Missing survey rewards are one of the most frustrating parts of taking paid surveys: you finish, you see the thank-you page, and your balance doesn’t move. Sometimes the reward is just slow. Sometimes it was never recorded, or it was taken back after a quality check. Each needs a different response.
📌 Quick answer: First check whether the reward is pending, missing or reversed. If it’s pending, wait for the platform’s stated window. If it’s missing, gather the survey ID, the date and time, and a screenshot, then contact support. If it was reversed after a quality check, you usually can’t get it back, but you can avoid the next one.
Missing survey rewards: pending, missing or reversed?
Start by looking at your earnings or activity history. The label there, or the lack of one, tells you what kind of problem you have.
| What you see | What it usually means | What to do |
| The survey shows as pending | The survey company hasn’t confirmed your completion yet | Wait for the period the platform states, then follow up |
| The survey isn’t listed at all | Your completion wasn’t recorded, often because the hand-off back to the app failed | Gather proof and file a claim |
| It shows as screened out or disqualified | You didn’t qualify, even if it happened late | Usually nothing to claim. Check whether the app pays anything for screen-outs |
| The reward appeared, then disappeared | A survey reversal: the client rejected the answers after a quality review | Ask support for the reason; focus on preventing the next one |
The rest of this guide covers how to handle missing survey rewards in each case.
Why completed surveys don’t get credited
A survey usually runs on the research company’s website, not inside the app you started from. When you finish, the survey sends you back to the app with a signal that says “completed”. If that signal never arrives, the app has no record of your work. That broken hand-off is behind many missing survey rewards.
The GrabPoints help centre, for example, lists three common causes of missing points: technical errors, incomplete survey responses and delayed processing. In practice, that covers situations like these:
- You closed the survey too early. Leaving before the final page loads can stop the completion from being recorded.
- The connection dropped or the page timed out on the last screen.
- The survey company is still processing it. Five Surveys, for example, tells members that delays with surveys, offers or rewards “can occur while information is being verified”.
- You were screened out near the end. It feels like a completed survey, but it’s recorded as a disqualification. Our guide to why you get disqualified from paid surveys explains why this happens.
- Your answers failed a quality check afterwards. This is a reversal, covered below.
Survey not credited? Follow these five steps
1. Wait for the platform’s stated window
Before you report a survey not credited, give it time. Some credit is slow by design. Offer-based rewards are often the slowest: Earnably’s help centre says some offers take up to three days to track, and Five Surveys tells members some offers can take up to three business days. Check your app’s help pages for its own window before you raise a ticket. Support teams often can’t act until that time has passed.
2. Check your history for a status
Look for words like “pending”, “screened out”, “declined” or “rejected” next to the survey. A status means the app knows about the survey, which changes what you ask support for.
3. Gather your proof
Proof makes missing survey rewards much easier to resolve. Qmee’s FAQ says to email support with the survey ID, or, if you don’t have it, the date and time you took the survey and the survey’s category or name. Screenshots help too. The GrabPoints help centre asks for the same kind of proof of completion.
Collect:
- the survey ID, if one was shown at the start or end;
- the date and time you finished, with your time zone;
- the reward the survey promised and how long it took;
- a screenshot of the final page, if you have one.
4. Contact the right team
Start with the support team of the app you used. Some apps pass missing-credit claims to the survey provider or offer wall instead. Earnably, for example, says contacting the offer wall is the only way to get credit for an offer that didn’t track. If your app’s help pages say that, follow them.
5. Send one clear message, then wait
Keep it short and factual, send it once, and keep a copy. GrabPoints, for example, says to expect a reply within five business days.
Here’s a message you can adapt:
Hi, I completed a survey on [date] at about [time, time zone] but haven’t received the reward. Survey ID: [ID, or the survey name if there was no ID]. Promised reward: [amount]. Length: about [minutes] minutes. I reached the final thank-you page, and a screenshot is attached. Could you check whether my completion was recorded? Thank you.
What a survey reversal means
Sometimes a reward appears and then vanishes. That’s usually a survey reversal. Cint, a research technology company whose marketplace supplies surveys to many panels and apps, explains that a reversal happens when “the client rejects a survey complete on quality-related grounds”.
Its help centre lists the kinds of problems that cause it:
- answers that don’t match your demographic details;
- failing quality-control questions;
- speeding through the survey;
- untruthful, random or nonsensical answers, or missing detail where it was required.
Qmee’s FAQ gives a similar explanation: survey providers can decline a survey if they feel you answered “too quickly, inconsistently or illogically”.
A survey reversal is hard to appeal, because the research client made the decision, not the app. You can still ask support which reason applied. The answer helps you avoid the next one.
💡 To avoid reversals: read each question properly, give real answers that match your profile, write a real sentence when a survey asks for typed feedback, and don’t rush to finish.
How to prevent missing survey rewards
Most missing survey rewards come from a handful of avoidable slips. A few habits help:
- Stay until the final page loads, and wait for the app to show the reward before you start the next survey.
- Use a stable connection for long surveys. Starting a 20-minute survey on a weak signal is a gamble.
- Don’t use a VPN. Some apps ban it outright. As our NiceSurveys review notes, that app’s terms treat VPN use as misrepresentation.
- Screenshot the end of long or high-value surveys. It takes two seconds and gives you proof if anything goes wrong.
- Keep a simple log of anything worth more than a few cents.
A log doesn’t need to be fancy. A note on your phone works:
| Date and time | App | Survey ID | Minutes | Promised | Credited? |
| 31 Oct, 8:15 PM | Example app | 48213 | 14 | $1.20 | Pending |
This row is an invented example. Fill in your own surveys.
A log also tells you, over a few weeks, whether one app loses your credit far more often than the others. That’s useful to know before you invest more time in it.
When to stop chasing a missing reward
Not all missing survey rewards are worth hours of back-and-forth. If it was a few cents and support has answered, it may be time to move on.
Be more concerned if:
- rewards go missing regularly, not occasionally;
- support doesn’t reply within the time the app promises;
- many recent reviews describe the same problem.
That pattern is a reason to spend your time on a different app. A legitimate app with poor tracking isn’t a scam, but if an app asks you to pay a fee to “release” missing earnings, that is one. Our guide to paid survey scams explains the warning signs.
Frequently asked questions
How long should I wait before reporting missing survey rewards?
Check your app’s help pages for its stated window. If it doesn’t give one, waiting a day or two before contacting support is reasonable. Offer rewards can take longer: Earnably and Five Surveys both mention up to three days for some offers.
Why did my survey reward disappear after it was credited?
That’s usually a survey reversal. The research client rejected the completed survey after reviewing the answers, for example for speeding or inconsistent replies.
Can I get credit if I didn’t take a screenshot?
Often, yes. Qmee, for example, asks for the survey ID or, failing that, the date, time and survey name. A screenshot just makes your claim easier to check.
Who should I contact: the app or the survey company?
Start with the app you used. If its help pages say claims go to the survey provider or offer wall, contact them instead.
Are missing survey rewards a sign of a scam?
Not by themselves. Tracking problems happen on legitimate apps. A request to pay a fee to unlock missing earnings is a scam sign, though.
Does missing credit count as a screen-out?
No. A screen-out means you didn’t qualify. A survey not credited means you finished but the completion wasn’t recorded. Your history page usually shows which one happened.
The bottom line
Missing survey rewards usually come down to timing, a failed hand-off at the end of the survey, or a quality check. Check the status first, wait for the stated window, then send one claim with clear proof. Keep a simple log, and you’ll soon see which apps track your work reliably. For how rewards turn into cash once they’re credited, see our guide to paid survey payments.
